Our Performance

The Challenge:

Eliassen Group was selected in partnership with Rally Software to provide transformational consulting services to a major federal laboratory to achieve the goals of delivering higher quality software faster with higher predictability while reducing waste and involving operators in the process.

The Solution:

Eliassen Group began by conducting a thorough assessment of the current processes and methods for systems development at the laboratory and then worked jointly with this group to create a vision for the future state as well as a roadmap for achieving the vision. Transforming the laboratory to an Agile way of working required a shift in mindset and practices on many levels and Eliassen Group coaches were instrumental in accomplishing this. Once all teams and leadership had been educated and a coaching regimen had been established we conducted the first program level release planning ceremony for the pilot program. Capitalizing on the success of the pilot program Eliassen Group implemented a plan to scale Agile to the rest of the federal laboratory comprised of hundreds of teams and ~8400 employees and contractors.

The Results:

Below are several highlights of the broader results achieved by this Agile engagement:

  • deliverables to DOE at the conclusion of the first release – 3 months.
    (This is the first time since 1949 that this laboratory has sent deliverables to the customer this quickly.)
  • Team throughput, the amount of usable deliverables created at frequency, was increased by 250%.
  • Defects reduced by ~400%.
  • Real predictability – the ability to see what will be done and when – has been established and trust between customer and product development is at an all-time high.

The Challenge:

Eliassen Group was selected to source and hire qualified resources in Network/System Administration, Engineering and Help Desk/Desk Side Support who were able to go to work immediately.

The Solution:

Recognizing the necessity of securing this top level talent so quickly while ensuring that the best candidates were selected for the project, Eliassen Group provided an average of 2-3 resumes per position within a 48 hour window. The Eliassen Group team vetted the candidates carefully and ensured they were debriefed and pre-interviewed, enabling the client to bypass a lengthy interview process.

The Results:

By utilizing best practices and a large network of qualified candidates, Eliassen Group was able to fill all positions and have the newly hired consultants on the ground working in less than a seven week period.

The Solution:

Eliassen Group delivered its Staff Augmentation Solutions in partnering with a major research agency to support multiple programs at the Department of Trustees, GAO, EOUSA, US Courts, FBI and NIH.

The Results:

Eliassen Group has placed consultants supporting application development and infrastructure support services to assist the major research agency with the improvement of its customer service within these agencies.

The Solution:

Eliassen Group staff partnered with a federal mortgage company to successfully complete an agile assessment, Agile transformation, and agile pilot with multiple teams. Eliassen Group’s Agile Practice staff is on-site at the federal mortgage company, supporting key teams and initiatives with Agile training, coaching, staffing, and new team ramp up services.

The Results:

Teams have successfully been transitioned from Waterfall to full scrum practices. Metrics gathered to validate this transition include: daily standups on all teams, weekly burn down charts presented to senior management, product demos at the end of each sprint, and retrospective ceremonies held at the end of each sprint.
